Wedding cars offer couples to ride in the car of their dreams, and travel in style from the ceremony to the reception party. If you’re the kind of couple that enjoys doing things that don’t fit into the ‘normal’ bracket, then this is the perfect opportunity to show off some creative thinking. The standard wedding car is usually a luxury motor; immaculate on the outside and stunningly comfortable on the inside. If you want to think outside the box, then we think we’ve come up with a list that can hopefully inspire you to do something a little bit crazy on your wedding day!
But what about the cost? Well, you might be surprised to learn that most of the crazy options we looked at cost a similar amount to the average wedding car. So, you shouldn’t have to be too far out of pocket. With the average cost of hiring a wedding car being around the $500 mark, that should be a good starting point for something a little bit more crazy…obviously depending on what you want!
To start looking for ideas, try searching on Google, wedding forums and flicking through magazines. Often the challenge isn’t necessarily finding your favourite idea, usually the hard bit is finding someone who can do it in your area. For that reason, it might be wise to come up with a few ideas and then do some research to find out what is actually possible.
So, our favourite crazy wedding car ideas include:
Campervan
Yes, the old classic VW campervan. These are becoming increasingly popular for use as wedding vehicles and prom vehicles. As someone who really loves campervans, I’d suggest that there’s definitely an element of romance surrounding the old wagons. Due to their rising popularity there are more and more companies springing up to offer this service, so you could be in luck.
Hire a Truck
Ok, so this option might work out at slightly more than the average wedding car. But if you and your partner love trucks and all things trucking, why not hire one as your wedding vehicle?! Finding a company to specifically rent out trucks for weddings might be tough. As a starting point, try contacting your local haulage company to see if they share your mad vision!
Hire a Tank
This has actually happened. I know it’s hard to believe, but one lucky couple decided to hire out a white tank complete with ribbon and all the standard wedding trimmings. If you like providing people with a spectacle, then hiring a tank would certainly satisfy the need to give your guests a memorable day. In terms of practical advice about where to hire a white tank, we don’t really have any! We think you’ll probably need to have some friends in high places!
Harley Davidson
If your new partner’s brave enough, then you could consider whisking them off in style on the back of a Harley Davidson. We don’t think that there’d be anything else much cooler than departing the church in a cloud of raucous engine noise!
