Taimyr Views From Helicopter

by Surveer

Taimyr Peninsula is one of the least accessible regions in Russia and can be compared in this respect with Antarctica or the North Pole.

Sergei share says during their expedition, they flew by helicopter twice the first time they were taken to the starting place for the second time were taken after the rafting.

.
He did a lot of high-altitude photographs, and they had a separate series.

Some areas in Taimyr cannot be reached even with helicopter. There were only nine people, seven of my friends and two conductors that are already on the river and helped us organize everything. The back half of the helicopter we loaded things and themselves sat on benches along the sides. In the depths of our luggage a yellow fuel tank, which allows you to fly the Mi-8 without refueling, I is not the first time I’ve seen.

This year we offer you a unique opportunity to visit this genuinely pristine corner of the planet on the shore of the Laptev Sea, joining the scientific expedition. There were flying in the rain, the storm clouds were low and the photos turned out a bit greyish.

Place not far from our camp. The first day we walked around here a lot.

Landed and unloaded all the stuff from the helicopter. Before you fly, the pilots were told that we would not go away, and sat right under the clasp. The fact that aerodynamics is that right under the blades of a quiet zone – you can walk, talk – but should withdraw to three meters away, and a gas can fly away at times.

On the way back it was beautiful – there was good weather, the sun shone. In this photo visible Kotuykan and meander – a place where the river turns 180 degrees – the river jog Joe. A little further it flows into Kotuykan, but we have not reached there, our camp was right on this spit. But we crossed the river several times, moved through a gap on the left, walking on the other side, and even climbed to the plateau on the right side of the frame.

This place is remarkable in that then we saw deer. Generally we expect to find them at once, because in this period begins the migration season. But because of the warm summer deer went only in the last two days of our alloy. And one evening, when I left the raft away from the camp, the deer came right at me.

And this is a merger Kotuykana and jog Joe.

The closer we flew to Khatanga, the brighter the colors of nature.

Mid-August, but sometimes there is snow. Basically, in the winter here the temperature drops to – 50, so that’s not surprising

And this is a river Kotui. It is wider Kotuykana and its length of over 1,400 kilometers.

In the background you can see the village of Kayak.
