The International ice and snow festival in Harbin was officially started on 5th January 2012. This festival was last held on 1963. Harbin is the capital of Heilongjiang Province in China and one of the sources of ice and snow sculptures in the world. The city is located in the northeast of China, and is subject to the direct influence of cold winter winds from Siberia. Average summer temperature is about 21.1° C, in winter -16.8 ° C. Sometimes in winter the temperature can drop to -38.1 ° C. It’s one of the coldiest cities in china, and attract about 8,00,000 visitors each year in Harbin.
