Comedy movies by their very nature are intended to make people laugh. While some movies are good enough to be watched once or twice, classic comedies are the films that can be enjoyed again and again. The following list of comedies details movies you will love for a lifetime, laughing so hard you’ll cry!

 

1. Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery

The first film in the Austin Powers series features the debut of the title character (Mike Meyers) in 1967, where the British spy is attempting to assassinate his nemesis Dr. Evil (also played by Mike Meyers). Dr. Evil escapes the plot by launching himself into space after being cryogenically frozen. Austin Powers decides to be frozen as well, preparing himself to continue to the fight whenever Dr. Evil should reappear. The British government unfreezes Powers in 1997, where a special agent Vanessa Kensington (Elizabeth Hurley) is paired with him in an attempt to take down Dr. Evil once and for all.

 

2. There’s Something About Mary

Ted Stroehmann (Ben Stiller) managed to score a prom date with one of the most popular girls in school Mary Jensen (Cameron Diaz), but the date was cancelled after Ted injured his genitalia. 13 years down the road, Ted decides to reconnect with Mary by hiring a private investigator to track her down. Hijinks ensue as everyone falls for Mary, and Ted attempts to win the woman who he has been longing after for more than a decade.

 

3. Caddyshack

Featuring Saturday Night Live alum Chevy Chase, Caddyshack is a hilarious movie released in 1980. Danny Noonan stars (Michael O’Keefe) caddies at a local country club to earn money for college. Shenanigans are the rule of the game at the popular country club, with an all-star cast of ridiculous characters causing drama for everyone. Rodney Dangerfield, Ted Knight, and Bill Murray also star in this comical movie.

 

4. The Hangover

In an effort to celebrate his upcoming marriage, Doug (Justin Bartha) and his friends Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), and the bride’s brother Alan (Zach Galifiniakis) head to Las Vegas. When the gang wakes up after a hard night of partying in Sin City, Doug is missing and nobody can remember what happened the night before. As the boys try to figure out where the groom-to-be is, hijinks ensue, including playtime with a tiger, and the appearance of a random baby.

 

5. Step Brothers

Brennan Huff and Dale Doback (Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly) star as two men who become stepbrothers when they’re 40 years old. Both are still living in their respective home, but the marriage of their parents forces the two to begin living with one another. When Dad lays down an ultimatum, the boys are forced to find a job within a week. The crazy siblings soon become friends, bonding over the love of the same music. As the family drama intensifies and the boys continue their job hunt, will these stepbrothers not only learn to get along but also finally get their lives started?
