Many people are so desperate to lose weight that they will try almost anything. Below are some of the absurd and wackiest ways that have been tried.
Tapeworm Diet
A person buys a tapeworm cyst. This usually comes from a cow. Then, the person eats it. As the tapeworm grows in the stomach, or the digestive tract, it basically absorbs calories. The tapeworm does not stay small while growing in the stomach. It can grow as large as 15 feet long. Within a week, one or two pounds can be lost. When the person reaches the desired weight loss, he or she takes an antibiotic to kill the tapeworm. This is banned in the United States … I wonder why?
Caffeine Tights
In today’s market, caffeine tights can be purchased. As a person wears them, his or her body heat increases. Then, the extra body heat causes the release of caffeine microcapsules, which goes into the legs and makes the person’s metabolism work harder and supposedly, starts burning fat. This causes weight loss. Well, why wouldn’t it?
Vinyl Sweat Suits
A vinyl sweat suit is worn which covers the body except for the hands, feet, neck and head. It increases the person’s perspiration rate and causes a lot more sweating than normal. The suit dehydrates the body, allowing water to escape through perspiration. Through this process, body fat just simply melts away. Since the suit is vinyl, all the perspiration can just be wiped away after its use. You may look a little strange if you wear it when walking down to the corner shop to buy some milk.
Unique Soaps
There are specialised soaps that can be bought to help a person lose weight. They contain vitamin and minerals, amongst other ingredients. These soaps are designed so that when a person uses them regularly, the soap’s ingredients get into the sub-layers of the skin. This causes the skin’s fat layers to be reduced and weight is supposedly lost. The key word here is ‘supposedly’.
Cotton Ball Diet
Some people think that if wool cotton balls are eaten dry or soaked in gelatine, that they will fill the stomach up without consuming any calories. They say weight loss is then achieved. Also, and what a surprise it is, digestive problems could very well be achieved.
If weight loss is desired, talking with a doctor, nutrition specialist or a personal trainer should be the first thing on a person‘s list. Just because these wacky and funny weight loss programs, clothing, soaps and diets exist, does not mean they are safe. Make logical choices to ensure the safety of your body comes first.
