John, I think it is highly judgmental and ignorant of you to say that people who cut coupons would especially have a difficult time understanding fractions. What is wrong with using coupons to save money? If you are implying that people who want to save money are poor and therefore uneducated, your argument is entirely fallacious. Please stop being an idiot and think before you speak.

John (response no. 1), you are so clever... I couldn't see why that one was funny before you explained it to me...
this is a real good site, smart choices of brilliantly stated stupid ads and excerpts.. the authors of which seemed to be in a hurry catching a deadline and didnt even bother to review their drafts b4 they got published and unknowingly created a line to muse over and talk about...funny and witty.. definitely, two thumbs up!
I don't know which is more frightening... The prospects for future generations, or the fact that if these people were smarter, I'd have nothing to laugh at!
First of all congratulation for such a great site. I learned a lot reading article here today. I will make sure i visit this site once a day so i can learn more.
The Mailman one happened in my town. my neighbor called the cops on the mailman because her guard dog was barking.

When I was a cop I was flagged down by a one armed man who told me to arrest some youths or he would take the law into his own hands..... After about 10 minutes I was able to speak to him.

The half price one is actually genius - take all the people who don't understand percentages (probably quite high among people who are cutting out coupons...) - some will think 50% is more than half, some will think it's less, and both will think the shop is being generous for offering them "whichever is cheaper". Meanwhile the ones who think they're the same will assume it must be a legal-small-print thing.
There's a brilliant story on www.notalwaysright.com where a customer refuses to believe that the cashier can actually work out 50% of a price *in his head*...

Haha the one armed man one seemed like it was done on purpose xD
